IPL 2024: Fine Imposed On Gujarat Titans Captain Shubhman Gill

IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans (GT) has become the first team to face a fine in the 17th season of IPL 2024. GT captain Shubhman Gill has been fined heavily in the match played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 26. GT has been fined Rs 12 lakh after being found guilty of slow over rate.

Heavy Fine Imposed On New Captain Of Gujarat Titans

This was the first overtime-related offence by any team in the 17th edition of the tournament. “Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the IPL 2024 match against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 26”.

The IPL said in an official statement. Because it was his team’s matter. Gill was fined ₹12 lakh for his first offence of the season under the IPL’s minimum over-rate code of conduct.

Gill took charge of the team after Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai Indians to take up the role of second captain and won his first match on Sunday. The young opener made a winning start when GT defeated MI in the opening match of the tournament, but on Tuesday, Gill’s GT finished second.

Shubman Gill Punished For This Mistake

In the JEET vs CSK match, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra scored an explosive 46 and took three catches as Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 63 runs to register their second consecutive IPL win.

Left-handed Ravindra, in his maiden IPL season, scored off 20 balls while skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad also scored 46 as Chennai posted 206-6 at home.

Seam bowlers Mustafizur Rahman, Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande took two wickets each to restrict Shubman Gill-led Gujarat to 143-8 and register their biggest defeat in the IPL in terms of runs.
