3) Chris Gayle – 2011
In IPL 2011, no one bought this T20 legend in the auction and Gayle remained unsold. After this, Royal Challengers Bangalore team included him in their team as a replacement.
After this, this veteran played an unbeaten inning of 102 runs in just 55 balls in his very first match played that season. After this, Gayle also scored a brilliant century against Punjab Kings in his fourth match that season. Gayle had scored 608 runs in 12 matches including two centuries.
Note- There are many other batsmen on the list of those who have scored two centuries in a season, but Chris Gayle was the first to do this feat, hence we have kept him on our list.
2) Jos Buttler – 2022
Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler looked in tremendous form in IPL 2022. Butler took full advantage of his excellent form and played many explosive innings.
He was the highest run-scorer in the current season and surpassed David Warner to become the second-highest run-scorer in a season in the history of the league. This season, Butler scored 863 runs in 17 matches and also scored 4 centuries.
1) Virat Kohli – 2016
Before IPL 2016 Virat Kohli’s name was not on the list of most centuries in ipl in one season. In the IPL, RCB captain Virat Kohli had not managed to score a single century before that season.
Although Kohli had many half-centuries to his name, not a single century to his name. In the year 2016, Kohli batted brilliantly and in that season Kohli scored 973 runs and also scored 4 centuries during this period.
Virat holds the record for scoring the most runs and became the ‘highest century in ipl one season‘.
